USB-C – The all-rounder for data, video, and power
Whether it's a smartphone, laptop, monitor, docking station, or power bank, USB-C is now the universal connection for almost every unit. The compact, reversible plug not only enables fast data transmission, but also power supply and the transmission of image and sound signals—all via a single cable.
Below you will find general information about the USB-C connection and a carefully selected range of our most popular USB-C cables, adapters, and power supplies—suitable for every application. Additional product videos show you the advantages, possible applications, and technical details of our solutions.
“USB-C is the most versatile connection of our time—for data, power, and video. But not every cable delivers what the plug promises. That's why we consistently rely on fully equipped, so-called ‘full-featured’ USB-C cables with eMarker—so that our customers enjoy full performance and maximum compatibility. There's no room for compromise!”

An overview of USB standards
Not all USB-C ports are the same—the key difference lies in the USB standards they support, which vary primarily in terms of data transfer rates.
USB4 is already available in two generations:
- USB4 Version 1.0: Up to 40 Gbit/s, combines USB, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt protocols. Downward compatible with USB 3.2 and USB 2.0.
- USB4 Version 2.0: Up to 80 Gbit/s (full duplex) or 120 Gbit/s (asymmetric) – ideal for high-resolution displays, VR applications, and fast external SSDs.
USB3 is also spread across several generations:
- Gen 1: 5 Gbit/s (SuperSpeed USB)
- Gen 2: 10 Gbit/s (SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps)
- Gen 2x2: 20 Gbit/s (SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps)
The older standards USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 are still important today, as many input devices (keyboards, mice, touchpads, etc.) and some audio devices, for example, still rely on these standards. Backward compatibility is therefore an important factor!
Alternate Modes – More than just data
Thanks to alternate modes, USB-C connections can transmit auxiliary protocols, such as:
- DisplayPort (for monitors up to 8K)
- Thunderbolt
This means that USB-C not only replaces earlier USB versions, but also many video and audio connections
Power Delivery – power supply up to 240 W
With USB Power Delivery (PD), USB-C is also evolving into a universal power supply. Currently, USB PD 3.1 enables a charging power of up to 240 watts—enough for powerful laptops, monitors, and many other devices. The power is intelligently negotiated between the unit and the charging source.
USB4-cable
Our USB4 cables offer maximum speed, performance, and compatibility: up to 40 Gbps data transfer and 240 W charging power thanks to USB-IF-compliant micro-coax construction and built-in E-marker in both plugs. They support all important alternate modes such as DisplayPort 2.0, PCI Express 2, and Thunderbolt 3 (partially). The robust design with a diameter of 5.6 mm, triple shielding, and gold-plated contacts guarantees a durable, interference-free connection—perfect for professional applications.

USB3.2 versions
Our high-end USB cables offer up to 100W charging power and 20Gbit/s data transfer – passively up to a length of 5m, where active cables would otherwise be required. This is made possible by our first-class cable quality. The elegant nylon/cotton textile sheathing is firmly bonded to the jacket and prevents slipping. Fully molded plugs in a slim aluminum housing guarantee robustness and a perfect fit. The built-in E-marker protects against overloads through intelligent communication.

High-flex version with silicone jacket
Our HI-U3CS series sets new standards in terms of flexibility: thanks to its ultra-flexible silicone jacket, there is currently no more supple USB-C cable with comparable performance data. Cables up to 2 m in length transmit a full 240 W of charging power, while 3 and 4 m cables still deliver a powerful 100 W. The fully shielded plugs are housed in slim, anodised aluminum casings that are durable and securely connected to the cable using a special molding process – ideal for applications where extreme flexibility is required.
Exclusively available from late summer 2025: A matching USB-C locking attachment with single-screw locking in accordance with the USB-IF standard will be available for the HI-U3CS series – for a secure hold even at the bottom under harsh conditions.

Active optical connection cables (AOC) – up to 15 m
Our HI-UAOC series sets new standards for USB-C connections beyond 5 meters. Thanks to built-in Active Optical Cable technologie, data and video signals remain stable and lost-free at lengths of up to 15 meters – with full functionality. The cable supports both 2-lane and 4-lane operation, allowing them to switch flexibly between different requirements: In 2-lane mode, 10 Gbit/s USB data is transmitted together with 4K60 video in DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Alternatively, 4-lane mode enables pure video transmission with up to 8K resolution. Of course, USB 2.0/1.1 signals are also fully preserved. The charging power is up to 60W. Despite its powerful technology, the cable impresses with its exceptionally flexible and supple design and a diameter of only 6mm – ideal for professional applications that require high quality even over long distances.

10G USB-3.2-Hub Clip-In-Modul
Under our CARDINAL DVM brand, we offer a compact USB 3.2 hub with 10G bandwiths that is particularly suitable for integration into furniture, walls, or media technology. Developed as a clip-in module for 45 mm SYSWALL frames, the hub fits perfectly with our SYSFRAME45 desk connection panels, the SYSTRUNK duct system/trunking system, and other standard systems with 45 mm rails. Seamless integration is achieved not only technically, but also visually: the hub is available in five attractive colors – matt white, high-gloss white, anthracite, matt black, and aluminum silver. The front features two USB-A and two USB-C connections with full 10G performance and 30W charging power. On the rear side, the module offers a USB-C upstream port and a separate power delivery connection that enables up to 60W charging power. The VIA Labs chipset employed guarantees maximum reliability and compatibility – a combination of features that is unique on the market in this form.
USB power supply
The compact GaN power supply DVM-194-PS5 charges up to four USB units simultaneously via a power outlet—at home, in the office, or on the go. It delivers up to 85W total power, distributed across 2x USB-A (max. 18W) and 2x USB-C (max. 65W & 20W), and supports all common fast charging standards, including Power Delivery. Thanks to its detachable AC cable, it is also ideal for integration into furniture and patch panels.
