SOMMER CABLE  supports the Bimbache openART workshop festival on the island of El Hierro:

Bimbache openART

Bimbache openART is a renowned workshop festival and open interdisciplinary platform in UNESCO biosphere reserve El Hierro (Canary Islands). Musicians from a wide variety of stylistic backgrounds and traditional masters from five continents are invited to collaborate and experiment, embedded in the local community. “It’s a dream come true, the kind of festival I’d always been looking for but never found”, says its founder and curator, virtuoso guitarist Torsten de Winkel.

In his early career, he was a frequent musical collaborator of an impressive array of Grammy Award winners from Pat Metheny to Michael Brecker and of musicians from the circles around Herbie Hancock and Santana. In the 1990s, he was one of the founders of the New York Jazz Guerrilla network and label and has since established himself as a vanguard thinker linking the arts with sustainability issues. SOMMER CABLE supports his work with Bimbache openART and with bass legend Hellmut Hattler, with whom he has recorded no less than 35 albums to date.

Further insights into Torsten de Winkel's thoughts on the connection between art and sustainability can be found in this Interview.
