"I have been involved in many product developments at SOMMER CABLE, but no product is as close to my heart as our HICON HI-FIBER4 connector. It is the result of many hours of tinkering, close teamwork, and intensive testing. What do I appreciate so much about this connector? Successful product developments are often based on the simple implementation of a strong idea. That's why I really appreciate its robustness, versatility, and super-simple handling. It works with all common fiber optic cables, which makes it a real problem solver – especially in harsh outdoor applications. I still remember the question that accompanied us during prototyping: “How do we make something complex so simple that anyone can use it?” Today, the answer lies in the well-thought-out housing concept and intuitive connection technology. Thanks to the matching installation socket in D-flange format, the HI-FIBER4 can be easily connected to existing LC systems, which greatly simplifies installations and upgrades. Plug in the LC – done. For me, the HI-FIBER4 stands for everything that makes good development: practicality, reliability, clever and simple technology. That's why it's my favorite product – and I'm proud to have been part of the development team."

4-fold fiber system
The road-proof HICON HI-FIBER connecting system is based on four optical LC fiber-optic lines, which are protected by a robust, compact metal housing technology. It consists of a cable plug and an installation socket in a compact D-flange format, which can also be employed as a universal cable coupling for extension and cascading. The socket can be connected to up to four conventional LC cables (or two LC duplex cables) as well as to the HI-FIBER4-MC cable plug, making it simple to connect to existing LC systems and highlighting the system's great modular advantage. The cable plug can be fitted with a maximum of four LC connectors, which are assembled after the cable is inserted and plugged into the quad fixture. The protection sleeve and a spring-loaded protection sleeve protect the sensitive fiber system from contamination and damage. The cable plug is simply plugged into the socket in the direction of the indentation and locked by pushing forward the locking ring using a push-pull mechanism. For strain relief and cable kink protection, we use standard cable glands with spiral kink protection (M16 x 1.5), which easily accommodate all standard four-fiber cable diameters from 5 to 9 mm.
